About Us
Darlene Diemer, of Diemer Accounting, Inc. and Scott A. Potter, CPA, have teamed up and will now operate as part of DP Tax & Accounting PLLC. DP draws on each of our names, to represent the two parties coming together (D for Diemer, P for Potter).
Darlene Diemer – Founder of Diemer Accounting, Inc.
Darlene Diemer, is the founder of Diemer Accounting, Inc., a firm she started out of her Allendale, Michigan home in 1992. Prior to launching her own company, Darlene worked for an accounting firm for ten years, and now has nearly four decades of experience in the industry.
Her favorite client is one who feels lost or overwhelmed when it comes to their accounting or tax needs. Her main goal is to streamline the various “chores” of her client’s day-to-day business operations, which results in more profit, and less headaches for her clients.
Darlene works with a wide variety of small and mid-sized business on projects such as implementing QuickBooks Online for newly formed companies, training of business owners in the operational uses of QuickBooks, clean-ups of bookkeeping records, and preparation and filing of annual income tax returns.
Darlene is a Certified QuickBooks® Desktop ProAdvisor and a Certified QuickBooks® Online ProAdvisor. As an Enrolled Agent (EA), she is licensed to represent clients with tax issues in front of the IRS and can assist clients nationwide.
When Darlene isn’t working, she likes to spend time with her adult children and grandkids. She is also an avid horseback rider and has recently participated in the Michigan “Shore-to-Shore” ride event, which is a ten-day trip where participants ride solely by horse from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan.
With the creation of DP Tax & Accounting PLLC, Darlene will continue to focus on serving her many dedicated clients, while being able to reduce the level of administrative tasks (aka “busywork”) in her day-to-day.
Scott Potter, CPA – Founder of DP Tax & Accounting PLLC and Scott Potter – The Tax Nerd
Scott is a native of Jenison, Michigan, graduating from Jenison High School, before going on to Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelors and Masters in Accounting. Scott spent the next 20 years working in both public accounting (Deloitte), and private industry (including Ally Bank, DirecTV, and Hyundai Capital), with an emphasis on IT and business process controls. He spent much of his early career in the Detroit area, followed by four years in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and most recently Anaheim, California.
In 2018, Scott decided to refocus his career and started his own tax practice, and at the same time began the process to obtain his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license. He successfully passed all four sections on the first try, becoming licensed in both Michigan and California.
Similar to Darlene’s beginnings, Scott started small from his home office and quickly grew his tax practice. As he is fluent in Portuguese from his time in Brazil, Scott has an additional area of focus in working with international taxpayers. Scott’s favorite type of project is one that others may brush off as too “messy” or complex, and loves the education component of client service, helping clients understand tax and accounting concepts in terms that they can relate to.
In his spare time, Scott enjoys cooking, traveling to new locations with his wife, spending time with family, and enjoying nature with their whippet, Pinkman. He has strong roots in the area, with extended family living throughout West Michigan. Proximity to family played a significant role in his decision to move back to the area.
